Short Story – I read I remember, I practice and I learn- John, Raj are 10 years old and they were preparing for a craft workshop which is to happen in a month. Both John and Raj’s have books and videos on how to make a house using cardboard. John read the books and watched the videos on how to build a house.
Came the competition day, John froze when he was given the material to make the house, but Raj started building the house and completed it on time, but John was not able to make any progress. John was so disappointed.
Seeing John disappointed, Raj came to John and tried to console him. John told Raj that
I read all the books I had about making house, I have watched all videos, but I couldn’t build the house and you were able to build a beautiful house with ease for which Raj replied, Let me tell you how I could build.
I also read books and watched videos that help me remember techniques but how I learned is I started to practice what I read and saw in those books and videos. I tried to build a house each day. It helped me improve my techniques and speed at which I could do.
After hearing, John was convinced that reading books alone is not enough. It is about practicing what we read.
Moral: I read I remember. I practice and I learn.
